Defined Events Policy

Do you have any idea of defined events are, chances are yes but fundamentally it refer to those specific events defined by insurer for which you will get cover on Home insurance. Besides these specified events, you will not get cover for anything else. If your home and property will be damaged or destroyed due to such events you will cover for the damage.

Normally it includes the following events:

  • Fire

  • Storm

  • Theft

  • Lightning

  • Malicious damage

  • Explosion

  • Earthquake

Eventually you can choose a defined events level of cover. Just keep in mind that if you choose defined events alone, you will get cover only for those events.

A defined Events Policy holder by Select Insurance, will not be sheltered or covered for any loss, harm or liability following

  • Bushfires
  • Grassfires

If such events happen within 72 hours of your policy’s initiation date or date of modification of the sums insured, except:

• You first taken your home within 24 hours of your policy’s initiation date, or

• Your policy is substituting another policy that covered the similar home, and there was no break in cover between the two. In this condition our legal responsibility is restricted to the minor sum insured of the two plans.
